December Full of Obsessions!

Haven't really posted on here in like forever...so, here ya go! This December is full of Duran Duran and Disney. DD will be here in Texas for 3 dates in the first week of December, but I'm just going to the Houston show on the 5th. Then, the next Friday I will be leaving for Disney World, but my hubby won't be there this time--just me, my mom, and the kids! It's looking to be a very great month!

Big Brother

I love some reality TV, but Big Brother has become my favorite. The newest season, a first-ever US winter (writer's strike) edition starts tomorrow. I have Live Feeds ready. I can not wait. This is an obsession, because I have past and now some of the current houseguests myspace pages added as friends. I keep up with various blogs and websites during and after the season. I have sat and watched Dick Donato (last season--the best season--BB8) on his chat late at night. I read their blogs and look at the pics. It is crazy. This season will be hard because I have more going on with school and scouts, plus Survivor... Well, hopefully I can keep to a normal life when this all starts tomorrow.

Disney World or Disney in general

So, I've been told I am obsessed about Disney World--I wouldn't call planning dining 180 days out obsessed--just prepared. And there are a lot more people on websites everyday posting than me--didn't see me at Mousefest, ever. Okay, so I guess if I had the time and money--I might actually be like that, but for now I guess I am obsessed because I love to plan and talk about my Disney World vacations. I've really only been 4 times: for 4 days in March (Spring Break) of 2000, with Nick, Brittany(3, almost 4), and my mom, staying at All Star Movies. First time--didn't do near everything but it didn't matter--it was just as magical being our first time and seeing how excited Brittany was. Then, we finally went again in June 2005 (yes, 5 years later...but there were reasons!) for 7 days with Nick, Brittany(just turned 9), and Austin (3, almost 4), staying at the Pop Century resort. First time to ride Dumbo and meet Donald--exciting! Then, we went the next year--September 2006 (yay to homeschooling) for 10 days (5 nights at All Star Movies and 5 days at Old Key West vacation club with rented points) with Nick, Brittany (10) and Austin (5). That was the first with the awesome chart, and did I mention the free dining (well, we only had it for 5 of the nights. Then, our most recent trip was this last September 2007 for 10 days, where I went early for 3 days--total of 2 weeks in Orlando. The first week was with my mom, Brittany(11), and Austin(6)--3 of those days at Disney...first part going to other places, including outlets. The 2nd week Nick flew in and joined us, all staying at Pop Century resort. Oh, and this 10 nights and 10 days was totally FREE DINING!

Well, I'm going to end this one by just hoping I get to plan one this year as well. I just feel at home there--it is sooooo magical!

Duran Duran

Obsession #1--since 1983 (I think...), and I was about 11 and 12 when it all began...I can't tell you the first song or video that did it. Maybe it was those Tiger Beat, Bog, and 16 mags with all the photos that helped. Pics above: that is just a sampling of a wall, and that hat--lost it on a roller coaster at Astroworld...sad day. Anyhow, the obsession also grows when you have friends to be obsessed with--Marlene and Darlene, my forever Duranie friends, then there was Michelle that I met at camp and then Michele from school. It is also great to meet new also-obsessed Duranies--Sara, met through Bunco, and others like Dawn met on-line and at shows. John Taylor was always my favorite, along with Simon and Nick. It also helps push the obsession to go to the shows, and oh if you meet them at the hotel (2003--got the touch John and Andy and then talk with Simon) and hang out, get pics, and autographs...more on that time in Austin this December in another post. Well, there you have it--my friends who aren't Duranies can call me a stalker and my husband can call it a shrine (hello--it's just a shelf!) but I don't care...I will always be a Duranie and I'm looking forward to more shows and more meetings with my favorite band of all time--Duran Duran!!!
